Center for Employment and Education: Great Truck Driving Programs!

This non-profit, tuition-based vocational school is located in Anchorage, Alaska. It began its operations since 1972. However, the center focused on construction training at that time. In 1994, the center could offer the Basic Training Program, the only recognized by the Federal Highways Administration. Currently, it offers training on heavy equipment operator, hazardous materials, and commercial truck diver. They aim to offer quality and relevant training programs to provide their students with functional skills. Their main objectives are: provide their programs without any regard to color, ethnic or national origin, race, age, sex or disability; well-trained personnel for the transportation industry. They are committed to high-quality standards; for this reason, their equipment, faculty and teaching methods are in accordance with state and federal agencies.

They offer different training programs: Fast Track Driver, Basic Driver, Construction Driver, Construction Technology and Double Trailer Training -This requires driving experience of 2 years -, Passenger Bus or Town Delivery, and CDL A/B - either with or without driving experience. In regard to hazardous materials, they offer Hazardous Material Transportation Specialist, 49 CFR 172.700 Transportation of Hazardous Materials Awareness. Other courses available are: Defensive Driving for Personal Vehicles or Professional Truck Drivers, Alive @ 25 (Defensive driving), First Aid/CPR , Safety Awareness for Professional Truck Drivers, Flagger Training, Fork Lift Training, among others.

You must meet some requirements to be admitted. You must have 19 years of age, High School Diploma or GED certificate, Alaska Drivers License and Clean Driving Record. If you meet these requirements and others established by the center, you must complete an application form. This is the first step to follow in the admission process, which involves counseling, drug test and presenting the corresponding documents.
