Triggering this early release were some of the topics of discussion during the recent conference held in Florida by Grocery Manufacturers of America. Several issues concerning utilization of "Deadhead Trailers" and the need to reduce the cost of transportation. Rick Blasgen of ConAgra said partnering across industries to utilize empty trailers would result in actual savings for the industry, especially in light of the driver shortage, increasing fuel costs and the finite capacity of the trucking industry.
