Con-Way Transportation Services: New President of Con-Way Now!

Conway Transportation Services, a subsidiary of CNF Inc., is a $2.6 billion company providing transportation and services. The Con-Way companies' supply ground expedited, air expedited, less-than-truckload regional, inter-regional and transcontinental service, airfreight forwarding, assembly and distribution logistics, truckload and Intermodal ship. The mission of the company is to be a leader in the industry giving innovation and differentiated services.

Recently, the company has announced its new CEO and President of Con-Way Now: Michelle M. Potter. She will be in charge for the overall strategic planning and direction of all company is business operations. She replaces Ed Conaway who was designated as new vice president of sales for Con Way. Some of his responsibilities are going to be the supervision of the marketing, sales, personnel, information technology and administration.

Since it was founded in 1983, Con-Way has had a stellar leading role in the US trucking industry. Its original service was regional less-than-truckload (LTL) service for commercial and industrial business customers. Today, the company regional carriers offer first-class direct next-day delivery in more markets than any other LTL carrier.

The company is organized in different divisions, Con-Way Air, Con-Way Full Load, Con-Way Logistics, Con-Way LTL, Con-Way Mexico, Con-Way Now and Con-Way Truckload. This structure has made the company more competitive in several areas in the transportation industry thanks to its trained human resources who see the mission and commitment with their customers as a priority. This specialized customer service allows the company to deliver a quality service product and contribute with its clients needs for flexible transportation solutions. In May 2003, the whole Con-Way set of companies achieved ISO certification for 9001 and 14001, as well, its LTL and expedite units are C-TPAT/PIP certified.

Therefore, as an efficient and great company, Con-Way is proud of its employees. Mrs. Potter is an example of commitment and overcoming the challenges. In 1996, she was hired as administrative assistant and has climbed positions in the company little by little; she now reached the position of being the President of an important division. In Con-Way Now, she will have to continue with the excellent work of her predecessor Ed Conaway that even has been highlighted on CBS nightly news recently. The story was about a husband and wife that are new drivers of the company and the advantages of this strategy in the trucking business. The interview was so touching that Andy and Kay Younger said to the journalist that the job is like a second honeymoon. "We got married because we love each other, so now we're together all the time, to go places, and see things and spend money when we want to. So, life is good". No doubt, these kinds of stories are the ones that encourage many individuals to become truck drivers!
