With a long and rich history, the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) is the only national trade association whose only focus is the truckload sector of the motor carrier industry. The organization has its origins in two separate groups which are the Contract Carrier Conference founded in 1938 and the Common Carrier Conference-Irregular Route founded in 1941. Today, the association represents dry van, flatbed, Intermodal container and end-dump carriers working in the 48 neighboring states as well as Alaska, Mexico and Canada.
The TCA's main purpose is to give leadership in order to benefit its members. In the course of the years, the organization has grown and has become an important instrument that helps motivation programs and awards to increase the productivity, profitability and ability of its associates in the industry. For this reason, among the responsibilities of the association, in 1996, they also took the supervision of the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) that is in charge of advancing truck driver training, proficiency, safety and professionalism to the premier standards possible. Many trucking schools across the US and Canada were been benefit of this institution.
One of the innovations of the TCA was to establish the Truckload Academy in 1999, where they provide complete training for all levels of truckload carrier workers, from chief executive to driver. Another one was to take the administration of the North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI) in 2001. This institution provides also training and certification of fleet safety, maintenance and driver trainer staff.
With 65 years of experience, the TCA associates join with others several leaders in the truckload carrier industry to bring safe, high-quality, reliable and efficient truckload transportation services for customers all over the country and abroad.
