Commercial Driver Training School is located on 600 Patton Avenue, West Babylon, NY. It has a big training field for the students. This school offers three different courses for the people who want to enter the transportation industry. The fleet they have for the driving training is varied and composed of the latest models, to give the students a better program.
The truck courses have two categories; the CDL B course that consists of 55 hours (2-4 weeks). Its main goal is to provide the students with all the basic knowledge about little trucks and buses. The course is a mixture of classroom and field practice and they are also provided with all the information to present the CDL written exam. DOT rules and regulations, hazmat and defensive driving are included too. The second category is Straight Truck and Coach Bus Course and it is for students who have a little truck or bus and want to enter in the business but do not have the preparation. It includes the same aspects described before in the other course.
Tractor courses are also divided in three types: Career Training I Tractor Trailer, which takes 304 hours and the objective is to prepare the students who want to enter in the truck driving business, no experience is required. Career Training II Tractor Trailer is done in 200 hours total (5 weeks) and includes themes like hazmat, DOT rules and regulations and it is especially for people who is interested in truck driving only. Career Training III Tractor Trailer; a 160 hours course (8-10 weeks) and it is principally for people who need to learn all about truck driving because they are going to work full time on this. CDTS has bus courses available too.
Some of the requirements you need to get in this school are to be at least 21 years old and obtain the proper learner's permit that the DMV provides.
