Check Ride began in 1989, when Mike and Jeff Smith started to teach inexperienced drivers. While one of them teaches automobile drivers the other handles teaching heavy duty trucks.
Check Ride believes that teaching well is a great value. So it makes the extra effort to maximize the potential of the students. Check Ride has 3 ½ acres, located in Woodinville, which is divided in 8,000s.q.ft. of office space and 3,000 foot for the truck shop. The rest of the property is dedicated to teach the basics in safety, shifting, and backing before the students get to the street.
To be admitted a student must be 18, able to read and write english, pass a DOT physical exam, pass a drug screen, and acquire a 5-year driving abstract from the local Department of Licensing. The must show a satisfactory driving record.
Check Ride helps its students to find available jobs and information about trucking companies but it will not promise anything. Some students that are highly qualified may be hired before they began the program.
