Western Pacific Truck School started operations in 1977 to train students to obtain a Commercial Driver License for a career as a professional truck driver. All the applicants must be interviewed for admission. Some of the requirements are having a valid driver's license, must be 18 years old (intrastate) or 21 years old (interstate), pass "the ability to benefit" competency exam, pass a physical and drug test, have a clean driving record, all the students must also complete the application for training, an enrollment agreement and a credit application.
They offer several training programs like the Class A Commercial Driver License, that consists in 160 hours, some of the things that you will learn at this course are: driving on the highway, city and with heavy traffic, operation of straight trucks, defensive diving techniques, backing, safety and emergency procedures, loading and unloading, parking and docking procedures. They also offer a forklift certification class, an eight hours course that includes operating procedures for forklifts, loading and unloading, security procedures and preparation for a written test.
WPTS has several school locations in Modesto, Stockton and Sacramento in California, and in Lakewood and Everett in Washington State. They are also looking for instructors in the California locations. The requirements they are asking for are a Class A License, good driving record, three years driving experience and to be bilingual Spanish- English as a plus.
